I'm Definitely Going to Miss Her

I lost a friend yesterday.

Her name was Milynn. She worked in cosmetics at the Walgreens a block away from my home. We were about as different as night and day. Someone said she was 61 years old but I don’t know. She was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Whenever I was in a long line at the front of the store, she would whisper to me to come to her counter and would quickly check me out. We'd often talked about our families and life in general. I'm definitely going to miss her.

We may never know the affect we have on other people. Milynn had a positive effect on me. I visit our local Walgreens at least 2-3 times week, if not more. I know what you’re thinking and it’s ok. It’s a habit I picked up from my mother. We’re drug store people.

There may never be a book written or an evening news story or newspaper article about Milynn. But I want to pay homage to someone who definitely had a positive impact in my life. As the old folks used to say when I was a little boy, “Sleep on, Milynn. Sleep on.”

  1. I am glad you shared Milynn's story. As you said we never know the affect we have on other people.
