Leadership: It Begins with You!

"Everything begins and ends with leadership," says author John Maxwell. I do not use the word great lightly. In my book, if you are going to be great at anything, that means you are far above the rest of the field.

If your church choir cannot sing, who do you think "they" are going to blame? If your favorite sports team has two consecutive losing seasons, who gets the ax first? If you underperform as a manager or supervisor, how long do you think you will last as a manager or supervisor?

The leader sets the tone for the organization whether it’s the department, the division, or the company as a whole. Character and integrity are paramount to good-to-great leadership.

As followers or constituents, we have the right to question our leaders—managers, supervisors, doctors, lawyers, husbands and wives. The list goes on and on.

The opportunity to lead effectively begins with you. It is a responsibility that should be taken seriously because a leader is in the business of serving others and changing lives.
