As you know, yesterday I posted that I do not Kumbaya. I feel a need to expound on that a little bit more. Hugs are important. Telling someone you love them is important. But you cannot add value and meaning to servant leadership without first having a protagonist. In this case, the foil is the power model. For whatever reason, I have had workshop participants who did not expect me to cover the power model the way that I do. But it must be discussed. To think that there are no bosses in this world who make their employees lives a living you-know-what or institutions that are sweat shops, or employees who lack self-awareness would be a grave disservice to the whole philosophy.
