You are the leader. With that responsibility comes all sorts of perks and privileges. But it also comes with its share of rumors, innuendos, backstabbing, and lies.
I used to host a television show that was based on servant leadership. I remember meeting with one of my guests behind closed doors prior to the taping of my interview with her.
This person was a leader of men, women, and children. However, during our meeting, she spent most of her time telling me how people mistreated her and told lies about her. I could see it in her eyes. She was hurting. She was a good Christian woman but she was not used to this type of ridicule.
Thus, I was not surprised, while on vacation, when I received a phone call that she had died of a massive stroke. She could not handle it. A lot of leaders cannot handle it.
Let’s cut to the chase. As a leader, people will say all types of bad things about you. It does not feel good at all. It hurts to the core. But you signed up for it. It comes with the territory, so be prepared.
