The Leadership Litmus Test
In the book, The Leadership Challenge, Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner write, "Leadership is a relationship." If you work at the Pastoral Institute, you can often hear Ron King, CEO, walking the halls saying, "It's all about relationships."
In my servant leadership workshops, I use what I call, The Leadership Litmus Test. It is very simple. If you are about to promote someone, and they do not like people, don’t do it. It doesn't matter whether they are in line for the job of team leader, supervisor, manager, principal, teacher, or even CEO. Please don't allow that person to make someone else's life a living-you-know-what.
