Leadership is like standing in the middle of a sold-out SEC football stadium. You better believe that you are on display.
A leader's every move is critiqued by a person or persons he influences. No matter what he does he is receiving attention from someone.
I once had an influential person tell me that he could not go outside in his front yard and wash his car and have a beer without someone (he influences) noticing him, and he didn’t like it.
I thought to myself, “Obviously, you don't get it. Leadership breeds some form of popularity and they are both joined at the hip."
Remember singer/songwriter Rockwell's song, “I always feel like somebody's watching me. And I have no privacy?”
If you are a leader, they probably are and you probably don’t.
